Security Analysts at
MicroWorld Technologies inform that a new variant
of the Trojan named Trojan-Spy.Win32.Goldun
or Trojan.Goldun.K is a dangerous species
with Keylogging and Rootkit capacities. It can steal
passwords and other confidential information, yet
remain invisible. With its ability to hide files and
registry entries using the Rootkit component, this
Trojan can escape even some of the AntiVirus software.
By definition, Trojan is a program with abilities
of intrusion, spying and destruction of information
systems. This description does not really talk about
any specific features of the malware than the motives
of the attacker. With thick demarcations between different
types of malware diminishing really fast, Trojan writers
are roping in Keyloggers, Rootkits and Stealth to
enhance their malice to more dangerous levels.
Originally, the term Rootkit was used to describe
altered and recompiled set of Unix tools designed
to conceal any trace of intruders. Today, highly evolved
Rootkits are available for Windows Operating System
providing a safe hiding place for malware. In a recent
controversy, a leading music company was forced to
withdraw their CDs in very large numbers as they were
accused of using Rootkits for copyright protection.
Today, malware creators are swearing by the
maxim too much in too less space and time.
Even genuine software creators are wondering at these
peoples ability to pack many a vice into a miniscule
size. Their capacity to remote alter the malware code
in an infected PC, helps them add new features per
changing needs, views Arti Taru, Assistant Manager,

MicroWorld, the
software firm which developed the worlds most
advanced AntiVirus and Content Security Solutions
eScan and MailScan, has a special team of experts
researching on newer and emerging Trojans, their evolution
pattern and different modes of proliferation.
Very recently we have seen some Keylogging Trojans
that even capture mouse clicks and screen shots. By
hiding this malice using a Rootkit, they are creating
an even bigger danger. But Im sure, if you use
a futuristic AntiVirus software, these threats will
never gain a foothold in your computer in the first
place. MicroWorld believes in the motto Prevention
is better than Cure. With the emergence Rootkit
driven Trojans which are hard to remove once infected,
the importance of this saying has never been bigger!
